Forensics
Forensics examines the application of science to the criminal and civil laws enforced by the criminal justice system. Students will explore a combination of scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, geology, and computer technology, in order to learn how crime scene investigators analyze crime scenes and evidence in an effort to capture criminals.
Throughout the year, students will examine the scientific techniques behind the analysis of physical and chemical evidence, toxicology, DNA fingerprinting, fire and explosives and other relevant pieces of evidence. This exploration will
be completed through labs and other hands-on investigations, reading, research, discussion, and debate. By completing this course, students will gain an understanding of the science involved in the criminal justice system.
