HEAD OF SCHOOL SEARCH

Dear Oldfields Community,

With deep appreciation for your unwavering commitment to Oldfields, we are excited to share that the Board of Trustees has appointed Stephen “Brock” Dunn as Interim Head of School, effective July 1, 2026.

This is a pivotal moment for Oldfields. As members of this community, you know the strength of our traditions, the pride of Green and White, and the bonds formed on Glencoe Road that last a lifetime. Selecting the right leader for this next chapter was a responsibility we approached with intention, discernment, and a clear commitment to honoring our past while strengthening our future.

Stephen "Brock" Dunn

Brock brings more than two decades of independent school leadership experience, including senior roles in girls’, boarding, and coeducational schools across the country. He has served as Head of School, Assistant Head of School, Division Head, and Dean of Students. His work has included overseeing academic programs, supervising and developing faculty, leading residential life, partnering closely with boards on governance and strategic planning, strengthening enrollment and advancement efforts, and guiding institutions through periods of transition and renewal.

He currently serves as Interim Head of School at Northwest Academy in Portland, Oregon, where he is leading academic, operational, and financial strategy during a time of institutional transition. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated the ability to bring clarity, steadiness, and alignment to schools navigating change.

Brock is deeply aligned with Oldfields’ mission and the promise of “Every Girl’s Success.” He believes in student-centered education that honors each girl’s individual journey while cultivating confidence, voice, and leadership. Just as importantly, he understands the distinctive nature of boarding school life and the relational leadership it requires.

He will serve in this role for an initial three-year term, providing continuity and steady leadership during this important period in Oldfields’ evolution. This commitment reflects the Board’s intention to ensure stability while continuing to strengthen the school’s foundation for the long term.

We are also pleased to welcome Brock’s wife, Jenna, to the Oldfields community. In a boarding school environment, partnership and presence matter, and we look forward to creating opportunities for you to meet them both in the months ahead.

We remain deeply grateful to Ansley Smithwick for her leadership and dedication to Oldfields and for her partnership during this transition. Her care for the school and its students has helped position Oldfields for the work ahead.

Oldfields has endured and evolved because of the strength of its women. Your engagement, advocacy, and generosity continue to shape its future. As we step into this next chapter, we do so with confidence in our leadership, pride in our traditions, and belief in what lies ahead.

We look forward to continuing this work together.

Stephen “Brock” Dunn
